my opening lines of the original series
The following blog is about an in work project of a lifelong dream. I was born mechanically inclined, a typical boy that liked to take things apart and make things. Growing up I built the usual assortment of treehouses, go karts, bikes, and anything else I could do for free. I also watched reruns of the original Star Trek series on TV. And because of that I fell in love with the enterprise and was thinking that it would be fun to own a model for myself.
In 1972 or 73 I found and purchased a copy of the blueprints that Franz Joseph had created. I fell in love with them. They included 12 sheets that not only showed the exterior but the complete interior as well. And even as a 10 year old kid I started thinking about building my own model.
I chose to start to draw the plans in the computer starting with Autocad and redraw the plans to correct any of the space and size issues of the interior and exterior of the ship. So after 10,000 hours of work on the second cad design I have a 99 percent finished project. this is a time line of my progress.
